Goals of the Plan

ABSTRACT

The six e-learning website-life, health, nature, science, arts, history have been constructed since 2003. The purpose is to promote high quality digital learning content. The MOE (Ministry of Education), corresponded to 2008 Plan- e-Generation Human Capacity-Building -constructing digital learning networks to provide both teachers and students digital learning material, and to cultivate the capabilities of active learning, creative learning and cooperative learning.

Health e-learning network, one of the six learning websites, hope to provide elementary and junior high school teachers to learn or use teaching resources and at the same time cultivate positive learning attitudes of students, include active learning, creative learning and cooperative learning. Its goal is set on broadening its users gradually and achieves the idea of lifelong learning. The purposes of health learning are:

1. Providing health knowledge and theory
To get students to know the basic theories of health so that they can take good care of their body and learn to stay fit with appropriate nutrition and exercise to improve their health.
2. Developing assisted learning resources Grade 1-9 Integrated Curriculum
With creativity, this website can provide students with material for assisted-learning, and teacher with digital tools to develop complimentary teaching resource for self-directed learning and making teaching activities more diverse.
3. Setting up portal website for health education
By integrating governmental and the non-profit private resources to provide the general public with holistic health education resources, this portal website could reduce unnecessary medicine and decrease waste of health resources.

 
 
 
  Goal Planning

The plan of health e-learning is based on natural history of disease corresponding to preventive medicine with a structure of 3 stages and five levels. Nowadays, the common people have a stereotype thought that medicine is based on thearpy and categorized by diseases and clinical specialties. However, this concept can’t work on the Internet. By law.clinical practices involving treatment of diseases are not allowed Under the circumstances of unidentified users, even counseling can cause problems. Therefore, we suggest the structure of the website portal is based on preventive medicine and focused on health knowledge. As for disease treatment, it should be linked and referred to a family doctor system for further management. Family doctors can offer patients personal counseling, integrate medical resources and collaborate with school teachers to provide a comprehensive heatlh learning network.

Principles

This website has the following three principles: caring about oneself, recognizing disease, and embrace health. Its targeted users include students, teachers and parents. Its content includes health education, preventive healthcare care, and sports and recreation. It also cooperates with three fields of health education, medicine and physical education.

The content of preventive healthcare overlaps with those in health education and sports and recreation, which are closely related. The core of 1-9 Integrated Curriculum focuses on human and self, human and society and human and nature. We suggest it can be further divided into detailed parts: human and body, human and mind, human and human, human and material, human and environment. Each part can connect the three fields and the topics within these three fields interactively.

The constructing principle aims at developing digital complimentary tools for self-learning and provides students diverse teaching activities and hope to cultivate the habit of active learning, cooperative learning by the method of learning by doing. Moreover, with physical activities combined with visual websites to gain a balance between humanities and information technology. This website will be a place for students to exploratory learning and creative learning.

Inviting experts to set a content team to create related contents and providing Grade1-9 Integrated curriculum health and physical education complimentary material, enabling junior high and elementary school teachers to learn or retrieve from the teaching resource , and also expecting students can achieve the goal of self-learning through this website. Cooperating with the government, academic institutions to set up the health e-learning network and co-host promotion activities. Students can cultivate positive attitude by doing and furthermore care about their own body. Learning to strengthen the body with nutrition formula and exercise, having the ability to take care of himself and his family so that one can achieve life long health learning. Corresponding with family doctor system to provide holistic health resource and individual health information management service.

Increasing the portion of promoting activities and bridging the gap between cities and townships

Method of Promotion
We use the point-line-plane way and hold activities in individual north, central, south and eastern areas. We hope participating schools to be our partner and co-promote health and physical education relative issues and bridge the gap of health information between cities and townships.

We recruit academic societies and foundations to hold educational activities, such as co-host bi-sexual educational activities with Taiwan Society for Adolescent Medicine and Health. We also invite seed school teachers and students to participate and to promote health website. Furthermore, we expect to promote this network with adolescent outpatient service in all areas all over the island.

We design a series of advertisements to enhance the general public’s understanding and user rate about this website.

Publicizing by Media
With limited budget, we hope to penetrate the target groups by print media, Internet media as important tools. Also, we combine with public relation operation, promotion from academic activities to make this education-oriented website to be more practical.

We work with Taiwan College of Family Medicine and integrate IDS (Integrated Delivery System) to provide health education, establishing appropriate health indexes to boost community health activities.

Broadening topic

We invite not only seed schools but also all school from each county and city to create multimedia teaching resources and website resources. Class activities will be more diverse and more accord to current campus issues.

We participate in Taiwan Society for Adolescent Medicine and Health’s “Quit smoking plan” to co-develop local smoke quitting material and process its trial and promotion and modify the material by our trial result.

In our health knowledge base ,we invite experts and scholars of related health profession. to contribute their articles. . Also, we gain knowlege authorization from public health centers and other medical societies, such as Formosan’s Medical Association. For information integration, a variety of medical societies will be good partners for us to renew the latest health information.

With the traits of the Internet, working with Formosans-e- Medical School and Bureau of Health Promotion, Department of Health, etc, to increase its richness to make it diverse to become a health learning platform unlimited by time and space.

Enhancing interaction with learners

Enhancing topics
Course plans of each learning stage and in different topics are designed according to user demand. Topic complimentary material such as multimedia learning units are designed and can used for promotion individually.

Feedback system
Directing users to send back their learning results recording online learning process, collecting and analyzing the feedbacks from users participating in real (virtual) activities or using learning units of specific topics from the website to integrate into class learning.

Creating active learning
Learning prescription will be constructed according to user’s profile including online learning process and motivation strength for further online learning.

Increasing user-friendliness of the website
Establishing the platform for exchanging teaching plans so it will be a platform for teachers to exchange teaching experience.

Strengthening the authoring system of teaching plans, content and complimentary tools to enhance the efficiency of online revision according to users feedback.

Evaluating the effect of digital learning

Strengthen learning sheets so that they can be used for topic promotion and also the bridge between professionals (teachers) and non-professionals (parents). They can be used for regular school education and also for promotion of social learning.

Structure of Working Team

This professional team is leaded by principal investigator Dr. Heng-Shuen Chen, College of Medicine, National Taiwan University, and co-investigator by Professor Ling-ling Yang and Professor Ging-ying Lin and set up subteams of content planning, Management and operation and technical platform to work on each item.
